## What You Need To Know...

MAFS.912.G-C.1.1 - Prove that all circles are similar.

1. The benchmark will be assessed using Equation Response, Graphic Response, Multiple Choice Response, Multi-select Response, Open Response, or Simulation Response.

2. Items may require students to use measures of different parts of a circle or to use a sequence of transformations to determine similarity.

3. Items may require students to generate tables, create circles, or write an algebraic description of a transformation.

4. Items will not require students to use the matrices, distance or midpoint formula or write an equation of a circle.

5. Items may require students to use an algebraic description of a transformation as shown below.

## Example Two

Show that circle C with center (-1, 2) and radius 3 is similar to circle D with center (3, 4) radius 5.

## Example Three

Show that circle C with center (0, 2) and radius 6 is similar to circle D with center (0, -6) radius 2.

## Example Four

Show the two given circles are similar by stating the necessary transformations from C to D.
